The Kurozome technique involves repeatedly applying the base dye before introducing the black pigment, layering colors in order to achieve the deepest shade of black in the garment. This meticulous dyeing process is carried out by hand by expert craftsmen at Kyoto Montsuki, who also carefully adjust the temperature of the dye bath over time. The resulting fabric, a combination of this dyeing process and the proprietary Sashiko weave, boasts an incredibly textured yet incredibly comfortable quality.
