An oiled version of Iron Heart's whipcord A2, giving improved water-resistance to the jacket. Due to the nature of whipcord and its reluctance to absorb, the heavy oiling of the fabric increases its weight from our standard 12oz to approximately 14oz. First issued to U.S Navy sailors in the early 1960s, the A2 deck jacket was the natural successor to the iconic N1 design, utilising lighter-weight but equally functional materials. Its design incorporated the N1’s tried and tested features such as a heavy-duty zipper closure and hidden ribbed cuffs - but with a modified collar, cinched hems and an added breast pocket for versatility.
This Iron Heart take on a classic jacket remains very true to the original design, constructed with a hardwearing, wind-resistant whipcord outer shell and a soft 100% wool lined interior. The lining extends all the way down the sleeves for maximum warmth and comfort during the colder months, whilst still ensuring a smooth feel when putting on and taking off the jacket.
